Installation, Care and Maintenance Guide

Hinges

We recommend that 1.5 pairs (3 hinges) are fitted per standard door size. For oversize doors additional hinges may be required. Contact our sales office for further details.

Hinges should be morticed into the edge of the door and the frame. Ensure that all hinges fitted to the door are lined up vertically. Misaligned hinges can cause the hinges to bind, which can increase wear and reduce the life of the product.

Screw holes should be piloted before fitting to prevent door or frame splitting.

Lubrication should normally be carried out on installation using a silicone based lubricant.

Regular inspections should be carried out to ensure the hinges are still operating correctly, check all fixings are secure, tighten if necessary. The surface should be cleaned with warm soapy water and dried off and the hinge bearing points lubricated.

Once hinges are fitted, it is normal that some grease residue may seep through the knuckle joints, as there could be engineering grease around the knuckle pin. The grease can be cleaned easily using warm soapy water, or a lint free cloth.

Door Furniture

All Hunta Hardware door furniture is supplied complete with the recommended fixings and spindles for fitting.

Lever on rose door furniture is supplied with standard woodscrews for face fixing, male and female bolt through fixings and grub screw fixing to the spindle. All fixings should be used where the lock or latch it is being fitted with allows.

When fitting the lever handles, ensure that fixings are fitted squarely and not overtightened as this could result in the lever handles not operating correctly.

To ensure the original appearance of the handles is maintained, we therefore recommend regular cleaning with a soft cloth and warm soapy water. Do not use any cleaning products. Ensure the handles are dried off after cleaning.

Try to avoid damage to the surface from careless use of keys and scratching from rings and jewellery.

Locks & Latches

Locks and latches should be regularly checked to ensure they are operating smoothly and  are engaging correctly with the strike plates as there can be some movement over time.

During this time, it is recommended that any moving parts are lubricated with a silicone based lubricant.
